Welcome!
We're so excited that you have chosen to use Let’s Talk COVID. Our hope is that as you journey through, your young people find loads of opportunities to work through their own thoughts and feelings of what has been a really tough season. Each session has been written to give lots of opportunity for personal reflection and space for the young people to process alone in their workbooks and in group discussions. We hope every young person will have the opportunity to get the most out of the course: confident, shy or outspoken, newly formed or close-knit groups, extroverted or introverted. You know your young people better than anyone, so adapt the course as you go along to best fit your group.
You might find it helpful to set some ground rules with the group before you begin the course. Whilst there is a light-hearted and fun tone to the course, some of the topics are heavy and might bring up difficult emotions. We believe you will get the most out of each session by creating a safe space where each young person’s views are valid and voices are heard.
How to get started
The course is delivered via visuals, leader’s book and workbook. Everything can be found on the sessions page.
Visuals
If you are running the course in-person, you can display the visuals with a projector or on a screen. If you are running the course online the visuals can be screen-shared from the leader’s device.
You can access the visuals for each session on the sessions page. Just scroll to the session you want and click ‘Go to session’. Everything will be ready for you to go! We recommend clicking the fullscreen icon in the top corner of the slide. Move through the slides with the left and right arrow keys.
Leader’s book
This is for you as you run the course - filled with all the session plans and notes you'll need to run the sessions. Each session is aimed to be 40-50 minutes long however each activity is adaptable for you to modify the session as you go!
You can download the full leader’s book as one big PDF on the sessions page, or you can download it individually for each session by clicking ‘Go to session’ on the resource page.
Workbooks
Each young person will need their own printed-out workbook. Each session has workbook activities built-in and there is also plenty of space for doodling and note-taking. The workbooks can be downloaded and sent to your young people to print themselves or you might like to print and deliver them before you start.
As with the leader’s book, you can download the full workbook as one PDF on the sessions page, or you can download individual session workbooks on the session pages by clicking ‘Go to session’ on the resource page.
Let’s go!
Don't forget to check the leader’s book notes before each session for any resources needed. We suggest getting any YouTube Videos ready on a separate tab before the session. A couple of sessions have specific resources needed for games (if meeting in person).
We would love to hear your stories and feedback as you go through the course. Get in touch with us at info@blankcanvasyouth.com or on the socials which you can find at the bottom of the page.
Enjoy and have fun!
